Gangwon 2024 knows its dates and venues

It’s done. The IOC Executive Board, meeting in virtual mode since Tuesday 7 December, has validated the dates and venue plan for the 2024 Youth Winter Games in Gangwon, South Korea. The event will take place from 19 January to 1 February 2024. The programme will include 81 events, including halfpipe (freestyle and snowboard), dual moguls (freestyle only), ski cross and snowboard cross competitions. This new edition of the YOG Winter Games, the first in Asia, will build on the legacy of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games. The events will be held at four venues: Gangneung (ice sports), PyeongChang (Nordic disciplines and bobsleigh/luge/skeleton), Jeongseon High 1 (alpine skiing and dual moguls), and Hoengseong (other freestyle skiing and snowboarding events). The 1,900 athletes will stay in one of the two Youth Olympic Villages, located at Gangneung-Wonju National University and Jeongseon High 1 ski resort respectively. As a reminder, the IOC awarded the 2024 Youth Winter Games to Gangwon at its 135th Session on 10 January 2020 in Lausanne.
