French Paralympic swimmers arrived in Tokyo


The Tokyo Olympic Games still have five long days to go, but their Paralympic counterpart is already taking shape. At least on the French side. The NHK channel reports that the first Paralympic athletes have arrived in Tokyo. A first delegation composed of thirteen swimmers and members of the coaching staff wearing the colors of the French team. Their plane landed this Tuesday, August 3rd, at Narita airport, near Tokyo, around 8:30 am. After completing sanitary and immigration formalities, they headed to Kanazawa, a city located in central Japan, where their base camp is located before reaching the athletes’ village. All members of the French delegation tested negative for COVID-19. According to the organizing committee, the number of Paralympic athletes arriving is expected to peak on August 17th, just one week before the opening ceremony.
