With the Paris 2024 Games only two years and a few months away, France has further strengthened its catalogue of major sporting events with the addition of a new world event, but in a non-Olympic discipline. The board of directors of the International Squash Federation (WSF) has decided to award France the organisation of the 2022 World Junior Championships. The event was originally scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg, but was withdrawn in response to the conflict in Ukraine. The World Junior Championships will take place from 11 to 21 August 2022 in Nancy. They will include an individual junior men’s and women’s event, as well as the world junior men’s team championship. This is not France’s first world squash event. In the recent past, Paris hosted the women’s World Team Championships in 2016, and Marseille hosted the men’s version of the World Team event the following year.
