France and Senegal make common cause

The rapprochement between Paris 2024 and Dakar 2026 is being extended to the level of sports federations. This was demonstrated by the signing, the day after the French Open, of a cooperation protocol between the French and Senegalese tennis federations. It was signed by Gilles Moretton, the president of the FFT, and his Senegalese counterpart, Issa Mboup. The aim is to combine their efforts and resources to prepare for the Paris 2024 Games and the Dakar 2026 Youth Games, but also to support the development of tennis in Senegal. Signed until 31 December 2026, the partnership agreement is based on an exchange of expertise in the areas of tennis training and event management. From this year, the FFT will make available to the Senegalese Tennis Federation (FST) all the contents of its training institute (LIFT). It will also share its know-how in the selection and maintenance of clay courts for the Diamniadio academy in Dakar, the site of the 2026 YOG tennis events. Finally, it will train Senegalese referees and ball boys and girls and provide support for the structuring of a high-level training programme.
