No time to lose. FIBA has announced the names of the first teams to qualify for the 3×3 basketball tournament at the Paris 2024 Games. The first six tickets have been snapped up, based on the world rankings as at 1 November 2023, by Serbia, the United States and China in the men’s competition, and China, the United States and France in the women’s competition. There are still five places up for grabs in each of the two competitions, for men and women. They will be up for grabs at the three Olympic qualifying tournaments scheduled for the first half of 2024. The host venues and teams will be announced in December. 3×3 basketball made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games. Latvia in the men’s event and the United States in the women’s event won the first two gold medals in the sport.
