Foreigners are coming

Tokyo 2020

With just three weeks to go before the opening of the Olympic Games on Friday, July 2nd, Japan is finally taking on an Olympic look. According to the country’s authorities, around 400 members of foreign teams have arrived in Japan since Thursday, July 1st, or are preparing to do so by Sunday, July 4th. They come from 18 nations. About 20 athletes and coaches from the U.S. boxing team landed at Narita Airport on Thursday. They used lanes reserved for entry procedures, without any contact with other airport users. The British sailing team arrived at Haneda, Tokyo’s other airport, the same day. They are due to move to the town of Hayama in Kanagawa Prefecture, their base camp, before heading to the athletes’ village.
