Egypt look to reunite with Russia

Russia has been suspended from all international soccer matches by FIFA and UEFA, but its national team is stepping up its friendly matches. They played two last September, against Egypt (1-1 and 1-2), and may well do so again soon. The General Secretary of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), Walid El Attar, told the Russian daily Sport-Express of his desire to repeat the experience. We would certainly like to play another friendly match against the Russian national team,” he explained. This could happen in the near future, but we haven’t yet discussed it with our counterparts at the Russian Football Union (RFU).” Since their suspension by FIFA on February 28, 2022, Russia have played numerous friendlies, including against Kyrgyzstan (2-1), Tajikistan (0-0), Uzbekistan (0-0), Iran (1-1), Iraq (2-0), Cameroon (1-0) and Kenya (2-2).
