The Olympic movement is moving fast into the field of eSports. In line with the IOC, the Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC) has lifted the veil on its first eSports championships. They will be held from June 30 to July 2, 2023, in parallel with the European Games in Poland (June 21 to July 2). The competitions will be held at the International Congress Centre in Katowice. They will bring together two e-sports, eFootball™ 2023 and Rocket League, in the Open and Women categories. In addition to the eSports competitions, the event will offer the public an eSports festival and an international convention where “thought leaders and idea creators in business, eSports, sports and technology will be invited.” As a reminder, around the same time (June 22-25, 2023), the IOC will hold the Olympic Esports Series, a competition of nine eSports, in Singapore.
