Denmark joins the movement

The movement is gaining momentum. After Norway, then Germany and the Netherlands, Denmark on Sunday (March 28th) became the fourth European team to draw attention to the rights of workers on the construction sites of the 2022 World Cup stadiums in Qatar. Ahead of their match against Moldova in the qualifying round of the next world tournament, the Danish players took to the pitch dressed in a red jersey bearing the slogan “Football supports change“. After the match, the Danish Football Association explained that the shirts will be signed and auctioned. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to Amnesty International for its programs for foreign workers in Qatar. The day before, the players from the Netherlands had donned an identical jersey with their qualifying meeting for the 2022 World Cup.
