The DRC is determined to be ready for the 2023 Games of La Francophonie (July 28 to August 6). The Congolese head of state, Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi, visited the construction sites of the venues at the end of last week. He was able to check the progress of work, less than four months before the sporting and cultural event. According to the organizing committee, the construction is more than 80% complete. In the athletes’ and artists’ village, located in the university residence of Kinshasa, 1,950 rooms are already available. Everything should be delivered by the end of May at the latest. Isidore Kwandja, the director of the organizing committee, revealed that the budget of the Games amounted to 66,9 million euros, the biggest part of which is assured by public subsidies. He also specified that 39 of the 42 countries initially registered had confirmed their participation. Rwanda, country of the current General Secretary of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), Louise Mushikiwabo, is not yet part of it.
