COVID cases in free fall

Tokyo Paralympics

The IPC and the Organising Committee of the Tokyo Games can breathe: the number of COVID-19 cases at the Paralympic Games is falling sharply. Only seven new cases have been registered in the last 24 hours among all accredited athletes. This is the lowest number since August 16th, when the organising committee started to record infected people directly linked to the Paralympic event. The seven new cases revealed on Wednesday, September 1st, concern five contractors, one member of the organising committee and one volunteer. All cases were detected outside the Paralympic Village. This is the first time that no athletes have been registered in the daily count.
