Construction sites targeted by burglars

The information is revealed by Europe 1: burglaries are multiplying on the construction sites of the Paris 2024 Games. Their number would have been on the rise during the year 2022, with 37 offenses noted, against 30 the previous year, according to figures from the police prefecture. The latest thefts were last week, when a team broke through a palisade door to gain access to the athletes’ village site in Saint-Denis. Two containers were broken into with a circular saw. Copper fittings and ground rods were stolen. In most cases, the burglars steal tools, materials and copper. According to a police source quoted by Europe 1, “copper theft is a crime of opportunity committed mostly by nationals of Eastern European countries.”
