It is official: the Chinese audiovisual group China Media Group (CMG) will play a major role in the production of images for the Paris 2024 Games. A partnership agreement was signed last weekend in Beijing, during Thomas Bach’s visit to China (photo above). It provides for technical and human cooperation between CMG and OBS, the IOC subsidiary in charge of producing images for the Olympic Games. Under the terms of the agreement, the Chinese group will be responsible for the production of images of four sports on the Olympic programme: gymnastics, table tennis, badminton and climbing. CMG will deploy a production and broadcast team of over 2,000 people. The Chinese group will use state-of-the-art technology – “5G+4K/8K+AI” – including artificial intelligence.
