Climbing and triathlon on the program

And two more to make twelve. The Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC) has announced the addition of two new sports to the program of the third edition of the European Games, scheduled for 2023 in Krakow and the region of Lesser Poland (Malopolska): climbing and triathlon. The first (climbing), chosen as an additional sport at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, will make its debut at the European Games. The second will be making its second appearance at the continental event, after Baku 2015. Climbing, which has just entered the program of the Pan American Games, continues to grow and develop within the Olympic movement. The triathlon, for its part, will be present in Poland with two events: the individual race (1,500 m swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) and the mixed relay. With these two additions, the 2023 European Games now have twelve sports on the program: climbing, triathlon, archery, badminton, beach handball, boxing, canoeing, karate, modern pentathlon, muay thai, shooting, and taekwondo. The EOC hopes to feature around 24 sports, Olympic and non-Olympic.
