Children make up the numbers

Spectators are not absent everywhere from the stands of Olympic events at the Tokyo Games. The NHK reports that 1,400 children from the Ibaraki region, northeast of Tokyo, attended a soccer tournament match between New Zealand and Honduras in the stadium on Sunday, July 25th. These school children were allowed to sit in the stands, as Ibaraki Prefecture is not subject to the same sanitary regulations as the capital. They respected social distancing, occupying one seat out of two, wearing masks and refraining from cheering for both teams. In total, about 4,000 children are expected to attend the stadium throughout the Olympic soccer tournament.
