Chengdu 2022 unveils its logo

There is no longer any doubt that China will host a major international sporting event before the end of the year. With two months to go, the organizers of the World Table Tennis Team Championships have unveiled the logo of the competition (photo above). The tournament will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan province, from September 30 to October 9, 2022. According to a release from the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), the logo is inspired by the hibiscus flower and the twin towers of the Tianfu International Financial Center, two symbols of the city of Chengdu. With the cancellation of the 2020 World Championships in Busan, the world team event has not been held for four years. The last edition, in 2018, was held in Halmstad, Sweden. China has not yet revealed the sanitary measures planned for the 2022 World Championships in Chengdu. They will be announced before the end of August. The event will be the first, and probably the only one in 2022, organized by China since the Beijing Winter Games.
