Canadian swimmers choose Caen

It’s a great coup for the city of Caen, in Normandy. With less than 1000 days to go before the opening of the Paris 2024 Games, it has been chosen by Canada as the base for its swimming team. The Canadian swimmers will prepare at the Eugène Maes nautical stadium in Caen, a facility that is included in the catalogue of Games Preparation Centres (GPCs) proposed by the Paris 2024 OCOG to National Olympic Committees. The announcement of the choice of the Canadians came from Hervé Morin, the president of the region, who is currently in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with a group of Norman business leaders. Adjacent to the Caen skating rink, the Eugène Maes water sports stadium has undergone a complete renovation before its reopening in 2017. It includes a 50-metre outdoor pool to Olympic standards, a 25-metre indoor pool and a leisure pool. The city of Caen is located just over 230 km west of Paris.
