Brisbane takes another step forward

The city of Brisbane and the state of Queensland are one step closer to victory in the race for the Summer Games in 2032. Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, has added a new missing piece to the dossier by providing the guarantee of federal government funding in the Games budget. He informed the Prime Minister of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, in an official letter sent on Monday April 26th. The document specifies the guarantees of the Australian government in terms of funding, but also security, visas, immigration and taxation. Comment from Annastacia Palaszczuk, quoted by the Brisbane Times: “This is great news for Queensland. This is what I asked the Prime Minister“. The authorities of Queensland and the cities affected by the project have already provided their guarantees. The Australian file is therefore complete. If the Executive Board agrees, the IOC could award Australia the Summer Games in 2032 at its next session, scheduled before the opening of the Tokyo Games.
