Beijing joins the network

A newcomer to the worldwide network of Olympic museums. An important arrival. The IOC has announced that the Beijing Olympic Museum, dedicated to the Summer Games in 2008 and the Winter Games in 2022, has officially become the 33rd name on the list. It was inducted at the organisation’s 17th General Assembly at the end of 2022 at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. Located in the national stadium – the legendary “Bird’s Nest” – the facility opened in 2009 and covers 34,500 m2. It welcomes nearly 200,000 students each year and presents its collections of torches, medals, uniforms, equipment and other heritage items through the permanent exhibition “One World, One Dream”. The Olympic Museum Network was created in 2006 at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. It now has 33 members and offers a unique and integrated platform to promote Olympism, the values of sport and the Olympic Games.
