It was time. With less than three months before the opening of the Tokyo Games, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) has finally put the finishing touches to the program for the final Olympic qualifying events. It announced that the final tickets for the synchronised swimming competitions will be up for grabs from June 10th to 13th, 2021 in Barcelona, Spain. The competition was initially scheduled for Tokyo, at the site of the Games, but it had to be moved outside of Japan, with the organisers due to start configuring the aquatic center in Olympic mode at the end of the month. Three of the ten teams participating in the Tokyo Games will be selected in Barcelona. At the same time, the Catalan event will distribute the last seven tickets in the duo’s event. Along with the staging of the Olympic qualifying event, Barcelona will host the World Series synchronised swimming super final. The other two Olympic qualifying events will be held May 1-6, 2021 in Tokyo for diving, followed by June 19 and 20, 2021 in Setubal, Portugal, for open water.
