Bali 2023 unveils its programme

It is about time. The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) has unveiled the list of sports that will be present at next year’s World Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia. The 2023 edition of the world multi-sport event, the second in history after Doha in 2019, will be marked by the entry of four new sports or disciplines: 3×3 basketball, AirBadminton, beach sprint rowing, and surfing (longboard and shortboard). They are in addition to the sports that are permanently included in the World Beach Games: open water swimming, beach water polo, beach soccer, beach handball, individual kata, kite foil, beach tennis, aquathlon, beach volleyball 4×4, beach wrestling. The announcement came just one year before the event, scheduled for 5 to 12 August 2023, just before the ANOC General Assembly, also organised in Bali (13 to 15 August). For 3×3 basketball, it will be a return to the World Beach Games, after a first appearance in Doha in 2019. Beach sprint rowing (pictured above), AirBadminton and surfing will make their debut next year on Balinese beaches.
