Astana wins the Women’s World Championships

Olympic boxing continues to lean east. Meeting at the weekend in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on the sidelines of the men’s World Championships, the board of directors of the international federation (IBA) awarded the next edition of the women’s World Championships to the city of Astana, Kazakhstan. It will take place in 2024 at the Barys Arena. The Women’s World Cup was held in Astana in 2016. The next edition will be marked by a doubling of the prize money awarded to boxers. A gold medal will be rewarded with a cheque for $200,000, with a record total prize money of $4.8 million for all 12 categories, 10% of which will go to the head coaches of the national teams.
