An application to ensure multilingualism

They had announced their willingness to use technology to innovate. They keep their word. Tokyo Games organisers confirmed on Tuesday, April 27th, that announcements on competition venues will be made in multiple languages. And this despite the absence of spectators from abroad. Multilingualism will be possible thanks to an application developed with the cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication. Dubbed the “Omotenashi Guide”, it will also convert all written content into words, particularly on giant screens placed at Olympic venues. As a bonus, the app will provide updates on the conduct and progress of competitions, as well as on safety and emergency situations. No less than seven languages will be available: Japanese, English, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Korean, Spanish and French.
