An ambassador named Paul Tergat

A logical choice. The International Federation of Athletics (World Athletics) has announced that it has appointed former Kenyan runner Paul Tergat, 53, as ambassador for the next World Cross Country Championships. They are due to take place on 18 February 2023 in Bathurst, Australia. An IOC member since 2013, Paul Tergat won the world title in the discipline five times during his career, consecutively between 1995 and 1999. He was also a two-time Olympic silver medallist in the 10,000m, at the Atlanta Games in 1996 and four years later in Sydney. The 2023 World Cross Country Championships, the first since the health crisis began, will also be the first to be held in Australia since the event was founded in 1973.
