An ambassador named Carmelo Anthony

After the Argentine Luis Scola and the Spaniard Pau Gasol, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has appointed a third ambassador for the 2023 World Cup. It is at least as prestigious, since it is the American Carmelo Anthony. Three-time Olympic gold medalist, selected among the basketball players who have marked the history of the NBA on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the North American league, “Melo” is still currently in the top 10 of the best scorers in the NBA. After making his national team debut in 2004 at the Athens Games, at only 20 years old, he played in the 2006 FIBA World Cup. As part of his ambassadorial role, Carmelo Anthony was in Manila, Philippines on Friday, February 24 to attend the FIBA World Cup Asian Zone Qualifier game between the Philippines and Lebanon. Scheduled to take place from August 25 to September 10, the 19th edition of the FIBA World Cup will, for the first time since its inception, take place in three different countries: the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
