An accessible ramp in the athletes’ village

Work continues on the Athletes’ Village for the Paris 2024 Games. With less than a year to go before the opening of the Games (D-350 on Friday 11 August), SOLIDEO has announced that it has begun this week to lay the spiral ramp on the village’s Olympic square. This will link the upper part of the square to the banks of the Seine. The installation of the ramp structure, made up of seven elements weighing 10 tonnes each and measuring around 100 metres in length, will be completed by the end of August. As SOLIDEO explained in a press release: “The ramps needed to move people who cannot use the stairs have been designed as architectural objects, while offering universal use“. At the Athletes’ Village, accessibility has been integrated into every aspect of the design, including 100% accessible family housing and inclusive, multi-sensory signage.
