All-out testing in the athletes’ village

The preparations for the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing are still in full swing. Over the past weekend, the Chinese organisers carried out a series of all-out tests in the athletes’ village in Beijing. As many as 2,415 people were involved in a two-day live test of the welcome and registration procedures, accommodation, catering and COVID-19 testing. According to Ju Qiang, deputy director of Beijing Village Accommodation Services, one of the highlights of the operation was the opportunity to put into practice an innovation of the 2022 Games, a variable bed system, which allows residents to adjust the length of their bed up to a maximum height of 2.40m. The next step will be a final test phase on 23 January, before the official opening to delegations on 27 January.
