The Paris 2024 OCOG has made a major appointment. Frenchman Alain Blondel, 58, European decathlon champion in 1994 in Helsinki, has joined the adventure as sports manager for the athletics events. Since retiring from sport, the Norman has never left the world of athletics. Agent, consultant for RTL radio, trainer of his former partner Heike Drechlser, he has above all multiplied experiences in the organisation of international meetings, notably in Germany on the indoor meeting circuit. Technical and sports director of the European outdoor championships in 2014 in Zurich, Alain Blondel has been in charge of relations with the athletes and sports coordination of the Rabat meeting, the only African stage of the World Athletics Diamond League, for several years.
