Africa gets the ball rolling

Umar Kremlev, the new president of the International Boxing Federation (AIBA), has personally launched the series of continental forums planned by the federation in the coming weeks. He traveled to Kenya to attend the first of these virtual face-to-face meetings, dedicated to the African continent. Forty African countries took part on Sunday February 7th, remotely and in virtual mode, in the continental forum. The opportunity for the Russian leader to present his vision of the AIBA and its governance, in particular on the issues of reforms, the calendar of competitions, the development plan for national federations, but also the communication strategy. Umar Kremlev also discussed the fight against doping at a specific seminar, moderated by the head of tests at the Independent Testing Agency (ITA), Matteo Vallini. The AIBA president took the opportunity to announce that the first boxing academy on the African continent would be built in Kenya.
