The trend is confirmed day after day: Africa dominates the medals table at the 2023 Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa (28 July to 6 August). No fewer than five countries from the continent appear in the top 6 after five days of competition. Morocco widened the gap at the top, with 31 medals, including 11 gold. Romania, the only non-African country in the top six on the evening of Wednesday 2 August, was a close second, with 22 medals, eight of them gold. Behind them, Cameroon, DRC, Senegal and Burkina Faso complete the top of the ranking. With only wrestling and judo taking part in the sporting events, France is struggling to keep pace. Currently in seventh place, it has eight medals, three of them gold. Twenty-six countries feature in the medals table, with four days to go before the end of the sporting and cultural event.
