A virtual bridge between Japan and Australia

Beautiful timing. The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) announced on Tuesday February 23rd, precisely D-150 days before the opening of the Tokyo Games (July 23 to August 8), the launch of its “Australian Olympic Connect 2021” program. It is to bring together in virtual mode more than 12 000 Australian and Japanese students, to “share their culture, their experiences, and their enthusiasm” for the next Summer Games. The Australian Olympic Movement initiative was prepared by a pilot operation last year in which some 40 schools and more than 1 500 students tested the experience between Alice Springs and Osaka. At the end of this trial, all of the teachers involved recommended the full deployment of the program. For its nationwide version, it will connect 200 schools from all Australian states and territories and 200 schools from all Japanese prefectures. On the menu, joint video calls, class projects and Olympic-themed challenges.
