A virtual awards ceremony

The end of the year promises to be digital for FIFA. The international football body has announced that its traditional annual awards ceremony will take place on December 17 virtually. The FIFA Trophy Gala was originally scheduled to be held last September in Milan. It was canceled in its classic format, and then eventually replaced with a remote event. Voting for national team captains and coaches, as well as the media and the public, will open on Wednesday 25 November. It will run until December 9. In addition to the trophies for best player, male and female, won last year by Lionel Messi and Megan Rapinoe (photo above), FIFA will notably award the best coaches and goalkeepers, male and female, as well as the Puskas prize for the most beautiful goal of the year 2020.
