Very trendy. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) announced that the trophy at stake this week at the finals of the Beach Pro Tour 2022, organized in Doha, will not be made of precious metal, but of recycled plastic. This is an unprecedented way for the sport’s governing body to mobilize players, and through them the public opinion, on the impact of pollution on beaches and oceans. The FIVB reminds that, according to the Ocean Conservancy, 11 million tons of plastic are washed into the world’s seas every year. Designed by The New Raw, a design company that specializes in transforming plastic waste into useful and 100% recyclable products, the trophy was made from waste collected on the beaches where beach volleyball is played.
