
There will be three of them. Three representatives from the Americas to sit on the Executive Council of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC). Panam Sports, the continental body of the Olympic movement, announced on Thursday 1st September that Canadian Tricia Smith, Paraguayan Camilo Perez, and Puerto Rican Sara Rosario (pictured above, from right to left), had been elected during its General Assembly, which is being held this week in Santiago de Chile. The three Panam Sports representatives on the ANOC Executive Council, all presidents of their respective national Olympic committees, were appointed for a four-year term. The ANOC General Assembly is scheduled to take place from 19 to 21 October 2022 in Seoul, South Korea. It will be dominated by the election of a new president. But the ballot promises to be without surprises, with Fijian Robin Mitchell, interim president since the forced withdrawal of Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah, being the only candidate in the running.
