The World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) is turning its attention to adaptive sports. It announces the signing of a cooperation agreement with the International Sports Federation for Athletes with Intellectual Disabilities (VIRTUS). The agreement was signed by WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari of Italy and VIRTUS President Marc Truffaut of France, who is also President of the French Federation of Adapted Sports (FFSA). Under the agreement, the respective national federations will be encouraged to work together to promote baseball/softball among athletes with intellectual disabilities. It is also expected that, where possible, an adapted sport category will be included in future WBSC international events. Finally, the world baseball and softball body becomes a member of VIRTUS, where it will be represented by one of its elected members on the sports committee. The WBSC is the sixth international federation to sign an agreement with VIRTUS, after World Karate, World Sailing, World Taekwondo, European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA), and the Confédération internationale francophone du sport adapté et de la culture (CIFSAC).
