A signature for clean sport

SportAccord is coming out of its silence. The organisation chaired by Italy’s Ivo Ferriani, whose last annual conventions were cancelled because of the health crisis (Beijing 2020 and 2021) and then the war in Ukraine (Ekaterinburg 2022), is stepping up its announcements. After unveiling the location and dates – Birmingham from 7 to 11 April 2024 – of its next convention, it recently confirmed that it had become a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code. “We have a key role to play in promoting clean sport and the principles of good governance, explains Ivo Ferriani, who is also President of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) and a member of the IOC Executive Board. We look forward to continuing to work with WADA, anti-doping organisations and other stakeholders to strengthen anti-doping practices worldwide.” As a reminder, in addition to the annual convention and the Forum of International Federations in Lausanne, SportAccord organises several multi-sport events, including the World Combat Games and the World Urban Games.
