A new step forward for flag soccer. The American soccer discipline, played by teams of 5 players, took advantage of the NFL Pro Bowl Games, last week in Las Vegas, to offer itself a record of attendance. The All-Star Game on Sunday, February 5, between the top players from the two NFL conferences, was played for the first time in flag soccer format. The game was played in front of a record 58,331 fans at Allegiant Stadium (pictured above). As a reminder, flag soccer is a candidate for inclusion in the Olympic program at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. It has been selected by the California organizers along with eight other sports that could join the program. The Olympic campaign is led jointly by the NFL and the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). The next step for flag soccer is the 2024 World Championships in Lahti, Finland, which will be the first fully parity event, including continental competitions for the first time.
