A quarantine exception for unvaccinated Russian minors

Surprising. According to its president, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) has received assurances from the IOC that members of its delegation to the Beijing 2022 Games under the age of 18 will not be subject to a three-week quarantine upon arrival in China if they are not vaccinated. The IOC has confirmed that our athletes will not be quarantined, as we are not allowed to vaccinate minors,” explained the president of the ROC, quoted by the RIA news agency. We currently have seven athletes affected, i.e. still minors and not vaccinated: three figure skaters and four freestyle skiers. China announced earlier this year that it would require all accredited athletes at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games to be vaccinated or face a 21-day quarantine. Only certain exceptions for medical reasons can be granted. These will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
