The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) is addressing the issue of athlete transition. On Monday 24 October, it launched a new programme dedicated to “career transition“. Aimed at current and recently retired international competitors, it consists of a series of interactive virtual courses led by Swiss-born lecturer, trainer and communication coach Gabriela Mueller Mendoza. These free courses are intended to help athletes gain experience in a variety of areas and skills, including self-awareness, networking, entrepreneurship and all the rules of a good career path. The first round of the IFSC programme on Monday 24 October included several of the participants in the Tokyo 2020 Games, where climbing was an additional sport, including Petra Klingler of Switzerland and Alannah Yip of Canada.
