A Nygaard – Capralos match

They will be two for one spot. Two candidates for the presidency of the Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC), whose election is scheduled for April 16, 2021 in Athens. The Norwegian Niels Nygaard, 67, and the Greek Spyros Capralos, 65, formalised their candidacies on the occasion of the general assembly of the EOC, organised on Friday November 27 in virtual mode, from the premises of the Italian Olympic committee (CONI) in Rome. The former has already assumed the presidency of the continental body, on an interim basis, since the disappearance on 1 June of the Slovenian Janez Kocijančič. The second is a member of the executive committee of the EOC. The election as president of the EOC will be accompanied next April by the full renewal of the executive committee. According to the new statutes of the body, adopted at the last general assembly, the next executive committee will have to take a more radical turn towards parity, since a minimum of five of its sixteen places will have to go to women.
