A new president for the athletes’ commission

There has been a change of leadership in the Athletes’ Commission of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC). Shauna Coxsey (photo above) from the UK was elected as the new chairperson at this year’s World Championships in Moscow, Russia. Shauna joined the commission in 2019 and became its vice-chair. She is still climbing up the ladder to the presidential chair. World champion in bouldering in 2016 and 2017, the Briton retired from sport on the evening of the Tokyo 2020 Games, where she inherited the tenth place. Shauna Coxsey succeeds Canadian climber Sean McColl, who had been the chair of the IFSC Athletes’ Commission since the 2016 World Championships in Paris. The Athletes’ Commission includes 13 members. The six elected members of the class of 2021 join the seven members appointed by their peers in 2019.
