A lottery for almost 100 Olympic sessions

Tokyo spectators

The Tokyo Games organisers have kept their word: a lottery will be organised to select spectators authorised to attend competition venues for sessions where ticket sales have exceeded 50% of the venue’s capacity. It will cover seven sports, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies: athletics, football, golf, modern pentathlon, rugby sevens, surfing, and baseball/softball. In total, the lottery will run for 97 sessions. The results will be announced in the morning of July 6th on the official Tokyo Games website. The quota of 3.63 million tickets sold will be reduced to 2.72 million. Final requests for refunds of tickets already purchased will be accepted between July 6th-15th. Note: The 50% capacity of the venues, with a maximum of 10,000 spectators, does not include invited school children, media and officials.
