A Hungarian at the helm of competitions

World Athletics recruits from Hungary. The international athletics body has announced that Hungarian Marton Gyulai (pictured above), executive director of sport at the recent world championships in Budapest, will become its new director of competition and events next month. At the Budapest World Championships, he was in charge of competitions, accreditation, media and broadcasting, volunteers, medicine and anti-doping, event presentation and team services. Marton Gyulai has been a member of the Council of the European Athletics Association since 2015 and of its Executive Board for the past two years. He has also been a member of the Hungarian Olympic Committee since 2012. He headed the Hungarian Athletics Federation for 10 years. The Hungarian will take up his post at World Athletics on 1 October. He will be based in Monaco, at the body’s headquarters.
