A global consultation

Unpublished. For the first time in its history, World Athletics is launching a broad, global consultation to prepare for its future and that of athletics. The Monaco-based body announces the launch of a survey open to all, from its member federations to simple fans, including athletes, coaches, officials, meeting directors, partners and media. This “Global Conversation” is supposed to serve as a basis for work and reflection to write the strategic plan of World Athletics for the period 2022-2030. The consultation will take place over a six-week period. The survey is available in 12 different languages. The process is overseen by a working group of seven members, all drawn from the World Athletics Council. It is chaired by the American, Willie Banks, former world record holder for the triple jump, assisted by the Sports Business Group of the firm Deloitte. At the end of the consultation, a draft strategic plan for the decade will be presented to the World Athletics Board in the middle of the year. Once validated, its final version will be proposed to member federations for approval at the body’s next congress, scheduled for November 2021.
