With less than 300 days to go until the opening of the Olympic Games, the Paris 2024 OCOG continues to pile up partnerships. But the latest is not about marketing. Etienne Thobois, the CEO of the Organising Committee, has signed an “association agreement” with Thierry Guimbaud, his counterpart at Voies navigables de France (VNF). The aim of the agreement is to “better integrate the Seine into the organisation and staging of the Games“, by formalising the “cooperation intentions of the two organisations in terms of the use of waterways and the ecological transition“. In detail, the partnership does not set out anything very concrete, but it does define more than half a dozen strategic areas, intended to “guide the action and roadmap of Paris 2024 and VNF“. These include, for example, the possibility for Paris 2024, its partners and service providers to have access to all useful information relating to river infrastructures, measures for operating the public river and port domain and conditions for occupying the public domain; or the promotion, in collaboration with Ile-de-France Mobilités, of river passenger transport service projects in response to identified mobility needs.
