A call to demonstrate in front of the IOC headquarters

The opportunity is too good. Threatened with leaving the Olympic movement after the Paris 2024 Games, the boxing community wants to take advantage of the IOC Executive Board meeting this week in Lausanne to make its voice heard. It is organising a rally in the Swiss city on Wednesday 29 March, in front of the Olympic House in the late morning and then at the Olympic Museum in the early afternoon. “We are all witnesses to the profound transformation that the IBA has undergone over the past two years towards compliance with international best practice,” explains the text of the call to demonstrate, which has been made available to FrancsJeux. “It is high time that this progress is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is high time that decisions on the future of boxing are taken on the basis of close cooperation and open discussions with the IBA and the boxing community”. This is not the first time that supporters of the international boxing body have demonstrated outside the IOC headquarters in Lausanne. The last one was led by former world champion Roy Jones Jr, an early ally of IBA president Umar Kremlev of Russia.
