A breakthrough in South America

The International Electronic Sports Federation (IESF) is turning its attention to South America. The South Korea-based body, now chaired by Saudi Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, has announced that its first Pan American Games will be held in Brazil next year. Billed as the biggest e-sports event ever held on the continent, the Pan American Esports Games will be held in June 2024 in Rio de Janeiro. They will bring together the best players from some twenty countries or territories, including Brazil, Argentina, the United States, Canada and Mexico. The competitions will be qualifiers for the eSport World Championship, the pinnacle of the IESF international calendar, scheduled for the end of 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
