After the crisis, the forecasts at the organizing committee of the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France. Shaken by the forced departure of its former general manager, Claude Atcher, France 2023 seems to have found its cruising speed. To the point of considering, seven months before the event (September 8-October 28), a historic result. Its president, Jacques Rivoal, explained it to the AFP: the World Cup will be profitable. “The financial result is secure, he assured. Our reference is the 2015 World Cup in England, where the contexts are quite similar, or even the 2007 edition in France. In both cases, the result was around 36 million euros. We have consolidated all the elements, all the legal entities: this leads us to present a consolidated result between 45 and 50 million euros. We will be above the best that has been done in terms of financial results. It will be redistributed to French rugby.” In the bidding phase, the French file would promise a positive result of 65 million euros. But Jacques Rivoal explains: “We had to update the figures: the initial budget did not include the apprentice training center, the economic interest grouping or the endowment fund. The budget, in total, is around 800 million in revenue.“
