A change of program for the second edition of the World Beach Games, to be held from August 5 to 12, 2023 in Bali, Indonesia. The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) has announced that it has withdrawn one of the sports originally scheduled: 3×3 basketball. The reason for this was a budgetary problem. ANOC explained in a press release that the local organizing committee had been forced to abandon the initial site, where rental costs had soared. A plan B was considered. But it was abandoned for lack of time and money. 3×3 basketball was one of two additional sports added by the Indonesian organizers, along with aerobadminton, to the ten sports on the program. No qualifying event had been organized for 3×3 basketball, as places for the 2023 World Beach Games were to be awarded on the basis of world ranking.
